BKP-NY is a 100% volunteer-driven, public charity organization, registered with the IRS as a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt organization.
Our mission is to develop a reading culture among Filipino children. Our goal is to promote literacy and help Filipino children acquire good reading skills and proficiency in the English language, which can give them the opportunity for better economic, social and civic lives in the future.
We do this by helping local communities in the Philippines establish their own libraries, and provide a convenient place for children to borrow and return books.
Through BKPNY’s awareness campaign, partnerships with other organizations and other literacy-related programs, BKPNY hopes to establish, in the tri-state area, a strong community of volunteers and donors who will support children’s libraries in the Philippines.
BKP-NY is affiliated with BKP, Inc. based in Massachusetts and shares in its mission and programs. BKP-NY’s partner libaries also receive direct support from BKP-Philippines.
